What is Workers' Comp?

Workers' compensation is a type of insurance that provides financial protection for both employees and employers when a worker gets injured or becomes ill due to their job. It covers expenses such as medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and a portion of lost wages while the employee recovers. Workers' compensation is often required by law and helps protect the business from costly lawsuits and financial losses.

Current Florida State Requirements

For non-construction businesses: Employers with 4 or more full- or part-time employees must carry workers' compensation insurance.

For construction industry businesses: Employers with 1 or more employees (including part-time) must carry coverage.

For agricultural employers: Coverage is required if there are 6 or more regular employees, and/or 12 or more seasonal employees who work more than 30 days.
